While investigating the case on Theodore Moores, a kid who disappeared five years ago; a disheveled, confused officer wakes up without any of his memories. Lost and possibly distressed, as he strives to find evidence or clues of his identity, he stumbles upon Brimstone Peaks – his howntown – in hopes of gathering his bearings. While settling for a new lease on life, the officer finds that the more he digs through this case; the rural town's safety and security becomes sinster warnings and cryptic leads, and the facade of the people there start to peel away, revealing no more than suspects out to get him.
